Who Would Want That Job?

As we get inside the 100 day window before Election Day, a thought occurred to me:

Who in their right mind would want the job of President Of The United States?

The prestige is considerable-and you get to live in a pretty nice house for four years (maybe more). You don’t have to go through security at the airport-or even go through an airport…but MAN!!! Who would want this job?

A comedian once said: “The candidates each spend hundreds of millions of dollars to get a job that pays $200 grand….must have a good dental plan!”

We know that both candidates are smart, but what they have to go through to get the gig! Every single word is analyzed, it’s meaning, it’s “hidden meaning” (if any) and all of the personal attacks on themselves and their families is mind-boggling. It’s no wonder most politicians don’t ever really SAY ANYTHING. We’ve trained them to be bland and inoffensive—to do otherwise would surely tick SOMEONE off!

Thank goodness there are people who still desire the nation’s highest office. My advice is to remember that they are all human beings-and perfection is not only unreachable—it’s probably undesirable. I want my President to be a real person, flaws and all. This year, we have a choice of two very real people-with different agendas, to say the least!

To put things in perspective, remember that in today’s media circus, Abraham Lincoln would have never made it through the primaries!
