Doggy School Or No Doggy School...That Is The Question

The little puppy I blogged about several weeks ago is now 14 weeks old—and hardly recognizable.

A Golden Retriever that we named Molly (an excruciating exercise in a family of 5 strong-willed people), our little pup now really looks more like a DOG…with a lot more growing to do.

Molly is pretty much housebroken…she WAITS until it’s time to go outside..and we give copious amounts of dog treats for doing her business on grass versus linoleum. She’ll actually “sit” for the treat—where she learned this I don’t know.

But that’s about it! She still chews stuff-so shoes and other items have magically vanished from the floor, where training cannot overcome temptation. Several friends have INSISTED on Dog Obedience School. In the same breath, some of them have actually joked that their hound flunked out, but it was a “great experience” nonetheless.

I’m looking for input here! Aside from rolling over, playing dead-or “heeling”, what is the USE of Doggy School?

With the price of gas, food…and everything else, I’m trying to cut down on needless expense…is this one of them?
