Mt. Washington...It's COLD UP HERE!!!

Quickie post today!

Just got back from the summit of Mount Washington, home to 94.9 WHOM’s transmitter. The 9th day of September—and it was in the 30’s up there, with winds at 40-50 mph! Winds hit a peak of 81 miles an hour! Rime ice (air that freezes) was on the structures up there and some of it was blowing off onto us.

Despite the conditions, the summit was loaded with tourists-plenty of hikers too! Visibility varied from nonexistent—to spectacular, with views of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesauke on the other!

WHOM’s incredible coverage is, of course, due to the antenna height on top of the Northeast’s highest peak…6, 288 feet!

Imagine how much fun it is up there in January!
